Dunkeld - 15 August

The Birnam Arts and Conference Centre, often referred to as The Beatrix Potter Centre, was the location for St Leonards Ramblers morning stop prior to their latest walks

Both groups set off from the car park at Torr a Bhuachaille on the northern outskirts of Dunkeld and made their way northwards past Cally Loch and onwards along the western bank of Mill Dam. At the head of Mill Dam, some two miles into their walk, the low walkers turned southwest for a mile and a half through Rotmell Wood before turning sharply south for a further two miles , passing Willie Miller’s Well and Deil’s Loch. They then swung  left and eastwards past Polney Loch and round Polney and Cally Sawmills to return to their starting point in what was an almost seven mile circle.

Meantime, the high walkers had continued beyond Mill Dam to pass both Rotmell and Dowally Lochs before turning westwards at Raor Lodge to follow an anti clockwise route which saw them enter Rotmell Wood and make their way south through the heart of the forest to the starting point. Their walk had covered over eight miles.

In the car park,  the coach was waiting to take everyone to Dunkeld for a most enjoyable social stop in the late afternoon sunshine.
