It was “Sunshine on Ramblers” when the St Leonards group walked the Water of Leith for their most recent outing. After morning refreshments in the village of Currie, the low walkers set off for the nearby river to follow it as far as Dean village.

Meanwhile the high walkers were bussed further upstream to Balerno to begin their walk along the river to the same ending. The weather, compared to previous days, was calm, mild and sunny and all enjoyed the first outing of the new year.

The walks of over 8 and 10 miles respectively helped revive muscles unused since before the festive season and a two hour social stop in Edinburgh gave everyone time to enjoy the attractions of the Capital which still had its seasonal atmosphere.
