Cove - 6 June

Within a week of returning from their walking holiday in Madeira, St Leonards ramblers set off to complete a walk from the village of Grantshouse in Lammermuir  to Cove on the southeast coast of Scotland.

In contrast to the balmy weather they enjoyed on holiday, though still in bright sunshine,  the walkers were faced with gale force winds. Unfortunately the strength and direction of the wind forced both groups to abandon their original plan of walking along the cliff top paths and instead sought a more inland route to the finish at Cove.  However, this did not detract too much from an enjoyable day which had begun with a morning stop at a garden centre near Dunbar, and concluded with a social stop in Haddington.

With Madeira still fresh in the minds, those who had been there, enjoyed reminiscing about the wonderful scenery of the island, the quality of the food and drink they were able to enjoy “al fresco”, not to mention the freedom of it being “all inclusive” Certainly yet another Club Holiday to remember.
